Woods EDGE Blacksburg Virginia

Fresh thinking. Environmentally friendly.

At WoodsEdge, no detail has been overlooked. In keeping with our commitment to preserve the natural beauty of our surroundings, environmentally friendly building methods and materials have been employed whenever possible. This includes selective on-site timber logging using draft horses for sustainable timber harvesting with minimal site disturbance, and using wood cut from the site for Village Center beams, cabinets, flooring and trim. In addition, the Village Center’s energy efficiency will be maintained through careful building orientation and the use of a geothermal heating and cooling system that harnesses the natural energy retained within the earth right beneath our feet.

To prepare the WoodsEdge site, draft horses were used for selective timber logging—a sustainable timber harvesting method that creates minimal site disturbance.
